      About The Book. Contemporary Issues in Law Enforcement provides students with a highly contemporary collection of readings that articulate the complexity of modern. Lawyers in common law systems today sense that they are subjects of unprecedented investigation, criticism, and attack. Yet finding responses to public criticism is not easy. This is the first collection of chapters on legal ethics which addresses the subject from a comparative perspective. There is no similar work in the US. The empirical research from which the conference originally sprang.

      These standards are considered foundational for contemporary law enforcement agencies. The program provides the framework for addressing high risk issues within a contemporary environment, and ensures officers are prepared to meet basic community service expectations and prepared to manage critical events. A national publication, the Journal of Contemporary Legal Issues is published bi-annually by the law school and is dedicated to the examination of important contemporary legal, political and social issues.. This journal consists primarily of papers presented at symposia usually held at the law school. Recent issues have centered on family law; critical race feminism; law, evolution and biology.

      The other issues debated under the topic of police and America's legal framework are whether civil forfeiture in law enforcement is an "effective tool" or "cash register justices;" whether a police officer's "bill of rights" is a needed protection for cops; and whether juvenile curfews are a legal and effective way to reduce juvenile crime.   Law enforcement personnel have stressful jobs.
